Headcanons
i uncovered and undusted these bad boys from my fanfiction document.
you are very welcome to use my ideas for anything at all (provided it is not offensive fetish material or hateful). just credit me by linking to this page
here is a speculative map i made of the underworld in which i tried to fit all of the known locations of the underworld into a comprehensive place. not entirely comprehensive per say. the underworld is confirmed to be a very metaphysical non-place and i tried to take that into account. my deal is making something comprehensive ENOUGH to make it a setting for dmc6 headcanons. so yeah go check it out. I made it myself only referencing the games and im not entirely set on it so im open to suggestions to changes by other fans.
Dante's shop in redgrave:
its such an important location i think it should have an important origin too. i headcanon that a band got killed and dante inherited their spot. it has a drum set and jukebox but they lost their guitar and bass fighting demons. newly reclaimed name dante was on the case but it proved too difficult to him. the place went up for sale for cheap because such a horrific incident had taken place there, and there was a high concentration of demonic activity there. dante bought it because he felt bad for bringing bad luck to bobbys cellar and to make sure he had demons to kill. there was also something self-destructive in settling in a haunted place. dante pays his respects to them by learning their instruments and songs. if you want to go darker, the band might have been murdered by people, and local demons later got involved.
Nero and Nico's dynamic, lore-wise:
if we consider that nell unofficially adopted Tony that makes Nero and Nico cousins. i think this is cool and also maybe hinted at with the brother/sister dynamic they have. nero was adopted by kyries family but always treated them like in-laws because they alienated him and he identified as an orphan more. but yeah cool because it means the goldstein and sparda families have a bond that tracks back to dante when he was young and vulnerable and living like a human. it ties into "Tony"'s "street-legend" thing and proves he has had a longer positive impact on the community not just grues daughters that he still sends money to. for nero and nico though i like to think about because it could give them this "family ride or die for eachother" attitude. but yeah sometimes community can be adopted family and vice versa.

the family tree is probably crazier than this i probably forgot something. dante lowkey being adopted into the grue family maybe.
another headcanon i have is that trish is like a little half-sister sister to dante and vergil. its fun for me to think about that shes about as old as patty. she was probably made between 1989-2001 after gilver died and before dmc1. i saw trish and patty mentioned in the same breath once and i have gotten obsessed with these two hanging out or working together as demon slayers. Their personalities fit together well and a slayful/girly demon killing duo is awesome. of course patty could get into living a normal life. but GODDAMN IT! I WANT A SORCERER CHARACTER!! bayonettas witches arent canon to dmc but humans doing sorcery was so cool in the anime and V was a really cool character. i need patty to become just as eccentric as V in her twenties and more than anything i want a Trish dmc spinoff. it could attempt to fix the issues with sexism the series has. she hasnt really been explored as a charater although there is a lot to get into. she represents a really fun part of the series thats been there since the start and she was the icon for it at first. I would love for her to mentor patty like dante couldnt, and as a kind of cool aunt.
Vergil as lord of Fortuna:
Adult Vergil in the human world wouldnt move in to the devil may cry. even thought that domestic setting is soo good for fanstuff that treats it like a sitcom setting. dreambubble ass concept. the childhood home is gone, so he would move into spardas castle on fortuna and be close to his son (and far away from dante). i can see him taking charge of the order and ruling the island. ultimately he doesnt have an interest in ruling so hes very hands-off but i think hed teach them philosophy and fighting and be good to them. having his little army against demons there, being a good version of Mundus. Vergils connection to fortuna is just so interesting to me. he got together with a woman there, his son grew up there, while he was most likely being experimented on by agnus to make the bianco angelos. but they had to save his dying body from mallet to do that. he was probably in-between the human and demon world at that time. i think its likely agnus summoned Vergil while trying to summon sparda. after dmc4 fortuna is in ruins and he crawls out of those ruins and comes back to life, i think this gives him kinship with trying to rebuild fortuna. not as corrupted by the order but as the thriving settlement sparda wanted for it. just like he had to rebuild himself from mundus' corruption.
im unsure how nero and kyrie fit in this. i think they should become warriors for fortuna and that kyrie should become a knight like in the concept art, that honors credo's memory. i like this persons hc that they can become a bit cult-y. Although... the childhood home isnt quite gone. Redgrave has become a haunted area and the building still stands in poor condition. If V were to come back as his own person, he should move in there and be this weirdass local sorcerer that the demon hunters go to for lore. But mostly he is retired. Maybe he hunts spirits and is specialized in them since his familiars cant kill physical beings. The familiars are probably extensions of his soul that are less pronounced than the original memories that left to get killed by dante. ahhh i love V!
