well i dont judge, i browse personal websites out of nosyness all the time. this isnt much of a personal site, anyhow. just nerd stuff. immature interests are for anybody i think. its like acknowledging your capacity for evil: you cant really be mature unless you know your immaturity. or something like that. just another win for this mediocre stoner philosopher. whatever C S Lewis said. but yearh i come here to play. you dont always have energy for the cleerb or the dumbasses that haunt them. yhis website is for my fan projects. Just to exercise some skills in a fun space. i fuck with things that are pretentious, or so stupid they loop right back to being pretentious. i dont make "content" but if you are lucky i might give glimpses into my beautiful mind instead. i try to tag offensive stuff as best as i can, but i am not a very squeamish person and believe in offending some people "punching up" style so it might slip and for any shitty experiences i apologise. i consider this page to be 18+ in terms of upsetting themes that might be brought up.

i believe in the slow death of the internet: new laws that restrict individuality and abuse our dependability on online means of expression. legal pressures become social pressures. Foucaults conceptual self-surveillance is enacted word-for-word.. i dont know about you, but it has sucked all joy out of my hobbies. i like creating art, but it isnt my way of life. i rely on the internet to develop and connect with it. and until 2017, i was able to do that on tumblr.
under the management of yahoo and automattic, the site has all but gotten rid of control of formatting, video and audio content, adult content of any nature, searching and promotion of liked accounts, the hubs of community. promotion is not of enjoyed content but of random, quick content usually made by children.
i came to tumblr as the host of the kind of webcomics that were made in an open space with live input and connection over the creation process between creator, co-creators and readership. well lets just say these changes have not only killed opportunities for future projects but access to the old content.
people who didnt experience it know the porn ban as censorship, but it was way more autodeletion of thousands of posts. hid accounts or deleted them. almost all my blogging about the professor layton series was deleted for the images containing warm colors. with filters like these, maybe only unnaturally colored cartoon porn will survive on the public internet in the future?
there is little meaningful connection to be made on tumblr anymore. artists who believe in their work cannot afford to have their work stolen for data collection or not being advertisement-compliant on there. people are deleted just for speaking their minds or rights. when you cannot rely on the site for meaningful content, people just kind of use it mindlessly. i am an unwilling member of that userbase. nothing sets apart stolen content blogs from personal art boards anymore. so just as most people interacting with my posts are bots or dont go above a passing-by like, i dont bother to check the source either. i post very tame stuff, but mostly people with negative intentions bother to respond to it. very demotivating stuff. all the interesting artwork i see has public opinion against it. i only see my favorite artists express distress over bots, hate mail for trivial or non-existent offences, stolen art, lack of income or interest in their work.
at some point i realized that, rendering likable characters in nonchallenging non-situations onto a white background just wasnt something i either wanted to spend my time doing or watch other people do. i want to get back to creativity, but that means going against the norm. and that means publishing things people have been conditioned to go "what were they smoking" and "delete this" in response to.
but nobody bothers to visit a website. its outside of the tight social rules. it doesnt take you onto thousands of other accounts with millions of more images. its slow consumption. like i said. if people really want to be here they will be. probably when they miss the diverse internet too. and listen, our favorite social medias were set for deletion long ago. when neocities goes due to legal, financial or personal strain. i will host it somewhere else. and when the internet goes down i will pass it around on a printed page. neocities is optimal because: you can do whatever the fuck you want (within the legal web). i hope i can set a nice example by hosting from my own website. even if my voice is small. i certainly get joy out of seeing other people's personal websites. and i have always wanted to learn what i like to see other people doing. im still a young person that barely gets by on my allowance but someday i will throw all my earnings back at them.
i dont have a lot of hope for the internet. politicians and businesses have a terrible influence and good things have been lost in the past. i was never good at throwing out things. they hold some of my past in them after all. i hope you download what you love and keep it offline so you dont have to be afraid of it going missing or compromising through ads and payments to access it. im an anthropologist, as you can probably tell, so i believe in preserving the small things that hold emotional value, rather than commercial or practical value. not necessarily as proof of excess consumption either.
